Welcome to Sol Pilates
Silvia Gil teaches Pilates classes in Amersham, Little Chalfont, Chesham and surrounding areas, to groups and individuals following the Body Control Pilates method. Whatever your background or level of fitness, Pilates is a great discipline that will strengthen your body and calm your mind.
Pilates is an excellent body-mind conditioning that focuses on correct body alignment, strengthening the core and increasing flexibility. If we don’t pay attention to our bodies, bad posture and incorrect muscle recruitment patterns can develop overtime, leading to body aches and pains.
Pilates retrains the deep intrinsic muscles responsible for good posture and encourages a natural range of movement of the joints. The results are healthier joints, a lengthened spine, better posture, a strong core, a toned body, and a sense of wellbeing that you will carry all day!
The Body Control Pilates Method is based on the work of Joseph Pilates (1883-1967), who developed a series of ‘classical’ exercises that attracted leading ballet dancers, actresses and elite athletes. These classical exercises are generally too advanced for the average person and it might take years to perfection them. So we break them down to reap the full benefits of Pilates and to build the best possible foundation upon which to progress towards the classical, more advanced work.
“If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old, if it’s completely flexible at 60, you are young.”
Group classes are limited to 12 spaces to ensure that you receive my personal attention, and reap the full benefits of each exercise.
There are two levels of classes, Beginners and Mixed ability.
Currently the classes are livestream.
Private sessions are a great opportunity to develop your Pilates skills with a programme of exercises tailored to your specific needs.
These sessions can be in the form of 1:1’s or 1:2’s, or for a small group of friends who want to exercise together.
Pregnancy / Postnatal Pilates
Pregnancy Pilates classes are designed to be safe for you and your baby, so you can keep fit and healthy during your pregnancy and prepare your body for birth.
Postnatal Pilates will help you recover and regain your body strength so you can thrive during the demands of early motherhood and beyond.
As a newcomer to Pilates, I was apprehensive about how learning virtually would work, but Silvia has done a great job introducing me to it.
Her attentiveness and personalized approach ensure I’m developing the right technique and focusing on my goals. She takes pain areas into account, so the classes are structured in a way where I can do everything, which is important to me.
Pilates was recommended to me after seeing a physio for some time for back pain, I am happy to see it already greatly reduced, so I’m excited for the continued and ongoing benefits! I was also quite surprised how relaxing I find it as well.
Silvia immediately put me at ease and explained the positions clearly. Her sessions are done with care with her making sure my technique was correct including my breathing.
After only a few sessions, I was already finding an improvement in my posture and general well-being.
She is a lovely person too – thank you Silvia!
Loved every minute of the Pilates sessions. My ageing body felt rejuvenated and relaxed.
Silvia’s instructions were very clear and easy to follow. It’s a date in my diary from now on.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my Pilates sessions with Silvia.
She is very knowledgeable and professional and along with finding her classes enjoyable and relaxing, it has definitely helped with my aches and pains.
I’d only done Pilates once before so was a complete novice, and with the added challenge of doing my first sessions via Zoom due to the pandemic.
Silvia’s instructions were clear and easy to follow and she is good at making simple corrections to any faults.
There is a good mix of people in the class and Silvia is able to cater for us all.
